The recognition was announced during his live program, Pray & Worship Lagos with Ebuka Songs: The Homecoming, held overnight between Friday and Saturday in Egbeda, Lagos.
During the event themed “Only Jesus Can Save,” the secretary of state for Georgia presented the honourary citizenship.
In their words, “Minister Ebuka, on behalf of the State of Georgia, it is my honour to present this award in recognition of your outstanding achievements and dedication to excellence.”
Ebuka Songs rose to national attention with his 2023 hit single ‘I Will Pray’ and his album Midnight Cry (2021).
In the same year, he signed with Spotlite Nation under Moses Bliss.
His music blends contemporary gospel with worship and his discography includes tracks like ‘Calling My Name (I’m a Soldier),’ ‘Jesus Christ Is Seen’ and ‘Total Submission’.
He is currently among Nigeria’s fastest-rising gospel artists, having also earned several awards, including Africa Best Male Gospel and Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
Ebuka Songs’ homecoming concert featured performances from gospel artists such as Steve Crown, Chioma Jesus and Yadah.
He also paid tribute to notable Christian leaders including Ayo Babalola, Pastor E. A. Adeboye and Bishop David Oyedepo, through symbolic gestures such as featuring their images on his attire during the performance.
