Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and serving as Senate Minority Leader, has expressed deep sorrow over the persistent attacks on communities in Benue South by suspected armed herdsmen.
In a statement released on Monday, Senator Moro condemned the continued violence that has resulted in the killing and abduction of several residents across Apa, Agatu, Otukpo, Ohimini, and Ogbadibo Local Government Areas.
He described the situation as deeply troubling, warning that the escalating insecurity, if not urgently addressed, could snowball into a full-blown crisis.
“These communities have come under heavy and sustained attacks by marauding herdsmen who kill, maim, and kidnap at will, without any meaningful resistance,” Senator Moro said.
The lawmaker, visibly disturbed by the worsening state of insecurity in his district, called for immediate and decisive action from both the state and federal governments. He emphasized that the protection of lives and property is a constitutional obligation that must be fulfilled.
While extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and kidnapped, Senator Moro insisted that citizens must be able to live and conduct their businesses freely, without fear.
“That right must be guaranteed,” he added.
