Abuja Metro learnt that the fire damaged two rooms within the plaza, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) received a call at 6:48 am and responded to the scene, where officers managed to bring the fire under control.
The FFS’s rapid response was credited with preventing a more severe outcome.
SPM Agbo Benson, an FFS official, described the tense situation. “We were in our office this morning (yesterday) when we got a fire call. We arrived immediately. The fire was actually tense. The smoke and flames were intense. But we were just a few minutes away from the key station, and we put everything under control,” he said.
The plaza’s operator, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “Yes, this morning, they called me and told me there was a fire in our boys’ quarters. We tried our best with our own fire extinguisher, but it didn’t work. Then we called the fire service. In the process, everything in the building got burnt, but we give glory to God that nobody was injured.”
A witness, Chike Sherry, also praised the swift intervention. “We saw there was a fire behind our building and came quickly, but the fire service had already done a very good job in putting out the fire,” he said….CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
