In an exclusive interview with NDTV yesterday, Ramesh, who was recovering from the hospital a day after the disaster that claimed other lives on the ground, stated, “Everything happened in front of my eyes, and I thought I would die.”

When the door shattered, I saw the gap and leaped out of the side where I was sitting, which dropped into the building’s bottom floor. “The door must have been broken on impact,” I said. On the other side was a wall, but I ran because it was open close to me. How I survived that is a mystery to me. For a moment, I believed I was going to die, but when I opened my eyes, I discovered I was still alive. I fastened my seat belt and left the room, but the air hostess had already passed away.

Shortly after taking off on Thursday, the Air India plane carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members crashed into a building, killing 246 people, according to officials. The plane was headed to the UK. According to hospital officials, the victims included 241 passengers and crew members as well as five medical students who were inside the hospital and medical college when the plane crashed.
