In light of the recent turmoil surrounding Air Peace, Obi seems to be reiterating his faith in the domestic airline in a nuanced but unambiguous statement. A few days prior, the airport saw a brief disturbance after a well-known Nigerian politician reportedly got into a fight at the Air Peace Lagos terminal. Many people see Obi’s public kudos as a tacit but firm demonstration of support for the airline. Obi shared his trip experience on social media:
“I took Air Peace from Lagos to London this morning, and I just got to the UK. I’ve now flown on this airline nearly a dozen times to and from London. I wish to express my profound gratitude to Air Peace’s management and employees for their expertise, professionalism, and dependability on this route. He also emphasised that indigenous businesses confront significant obstacles, particularly in capital-intensive industries like land and air transportation, and urged Nigerian authorities and elites to actively support them.
“Nigerian companies need our support and business, not unwarranted intimidation or harassment. Job creation, economic growth, and sustained national development all depend on supporting local companies, especially those that generate large numbers of jobs,” he continued.
“A new Nigeria is POssible,” Obi concluded his statement with his trademark optimism.
