The attackers, who reportedly rode into the village on motorbikes under the cover of darkness, killed the traditional head of the community and abducted several residents during the violent raid.
Local sources said that the gunmen stormed the quiet agrarian village without warning, unleashing gunfire and chaos that stretched into the early hours of Monday.
The number of those abducted or injured in the attack was still unconfirmed at the time of filing this report, as authorities were yet to release an official statement.
The latest incident adds to a string of deadly attacks linked to suspected herdsmen in recent days. Over the weekend, more than 100 people were feared dead after armed men invaded Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The coordinated violence began on Friday night and continued through the early hours of Saturday. Just 48 hours earlier, two other communities—Mtswenem and Akondotyough Bawa in Makurdi Local Government Area—were attacked, resulting in at least 25 deaths.
