Describing the incident as “murderous” and “condemnable,” Sani expressed deep concern over the rising trend of lawlessness in the country, noting that such violence is no longer limited to the actions of bandits and terrorists.
“Unfortunately, acts of lawlessness are now not limited to bandits,” he stated. “The perpetrators of this evil must be identified and held accountable by the law.”
Reports indicate that at least seven passengers were brutally murdered when an 18-seater commercial bus was attacked by suspected youths from Mangun Village in Mangu Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on June 20, 2025, at approximately 9:47 p.m. The bus, which was en route from Zaria to Qua’an-Pan in Plateau State and carrying 28 passengers, was intercepted and attacked. Most of the passengers, who were predominantly of Hausa descent, were travelling to attend a wedding ceremony. What began as a hopeful journey ended in an unimaginable tragedy.
While the bus navigated the darkened roads of Plateau, it was suddenly ambushed. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of irate youths from the community intercepted the vehicle near the outskirts of the town. What ensued was a scene of chaos and brutal violence.
Seven passengers were killed on the spot, their lives tragically cut short. One other traveller was in critical condition, while six more sustained various injuries. The attackers subsequently set the vehicle ablaze, leaving behind its charred remains as a grim symbol of senseless destruction.
Local leaders quickly rushed the injured to the General Hospital in Mangu, where they received urgent medical attention. Some survivors remain in shock, their faces reflecting fear, confusion, and grief, victims of a conflict they neither instigated nor understood.
Sources at the Plateau Police Command have confirmed that tactical teams have been deployed to Mangun Village, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
