Police Turn Over Suspected Ritualist After They Find 6-Year-Old Boy’s Body in a Sack

Following the terrible event on Wednesday night, the suspect was apprehended while attempting to flee with the boy’s disfigured body concealed in a sack. The local population, particularly Hausa people, were incensed and nearly attacked him.

However, Hausa community elders intervened swiftly, subdued the irate mob, and turned the suspect over to law enforcement. According to reports, the deceased youngster travelled to Yenagoa to celebrate the holiday of Salah prior to the tragic event that befell him. Women’s rights organisations such as the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) and the National Association of Women Against Gender-Based Violence (AWAGBV) paid a visit to the child’s family on Thursday to express solidarity and call for justice.

Dr. Dise Goddy Harry of AWAGBV also encouraged security forces to act quickly and ensure justice is served, while Hajia Aisha Abeki, the Bayelsa chairperson for FOMWAN, appealed for justice and called the incident tragic. After verifying the suspect’s detention, the Bayelsa Police Command transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.
