A 29-year-old woman was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after she brutally took the life of a work colleague who discovered she had been stealing.
Brittany Norwood was found guilty of murdering her co-worker Jayna Murray in the Lululemon Athletic shop in Bethesda, Maryland on March 11, 2011 before staging a fake crime in an attempt to cover her tracks.
Police said that Norwood initially told them that after closing up the store for the night, she and Murray returned to the store to pick up a wallet she had forgotten at work.
But two masked men followed them in, bound them, sexually assaulted them and when Murray resisted, they beat and stabbed her to death.

The next morning, another store employee found Murray dead inside the shop, and Norwood injured and bound.
But six days into the investigation, police started to question Norwood’s story. “Almost none of it matched up,” former FBI agent Brad Garrett later said of the scene at Lululemon.
For one thing, medical examiners found no evidence of sexual assault on either victim. Furthermore, only two sets of footprints were found – Norwood’s, and one from a pair of shoes found still at the scene, which police theorised Norwood used to plant false footprints.
“We were able to determine that there were only two sets of footprints at the crime scene, one belonging to Ms. Norwood another belonging to a size 14 shoe that was recovered in the store,” Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger said.
In reality, an argument had erupted between the two women when they were closing up the store for the night and went to carry out their mutual bag checks. It was then that Murray caught Norwood trying to steal a pair of yoga pants.

Norwood then “bludgeoned, choked and stabbed” Murray using an array of five different weapons that caused 330 separate wounds.
She also attempted to cover up the murder by inflicting superficial wounds on herself. Norwood was found bound with zip-ties, with a laceration on her forehead and scratches on her abdomen. She had also torn her pants at the crotch.
According to the medical examiner, Murray was alive when she incurred the majority of her brutal injuries.
Shortly before sentencing, Norwood was permitted to address the family of the victim for the first time: “Before I go to prison I needed you to hear how deeply sorry I am,” she told them…..CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
