The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, August 30, 2025 said the suspects, Muhammad Mohammed and Mohammed Usman, confessed that they were hired by one Dogo to assassinate a man because he married his ex-wife.
According to the PPRO, the suspects were intercepted by a patrol team and vigilante members while on their way to collect the service charge of N100,000 from Dogo before carrying out the task.
“On 23/8/2025 at about 12.45am, Police patrol team with vigilante members stationed at railway crossing Beji, Maikunkele area of Bosso LGA intercepted two persons, namely: Muhammad Mohammed 40yrs and Mohammed Usman 35yrs both of Beji,” the statement read.
“A search was carried out on them and a locally made pistol, a live cartridge and a sum of thirteen thousand naira were recovered.
“During interrogation both suspects confessed that they were hired by one Dogo of Beji to assassinate a person around railway crossing area, and they were on their way to collect the service charge of one hundred thousand naira from Dogo before being arrested.
“They further claimed that Dogo initially gave them the sum of thirteen thousand naira as a transport fee, while they charged him one hundred thousand naira for the assignment. They added that they needed to collect the money before they would carry out the task.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that Dogo intended to k!ll the fellow because he married his ex-wife.
“The suspects were taken into Police custody in Maikunkele Div for preliminary investigation and were later transferred to SCID for discreet investigation and prosecution.
