Elizaveta “Liza” Gushchina, 45, had successfully completed a jump at a tower used for extreme rope jumps in Pavlovsk, near St Petersburg, Russia, before deciding to climb back up to take a keepsake selfie.Russian media reported that she stood on the platform without safety ropes and slipped, falling to her death.
Video footage shows Gushchina laughing and shouting “Let’s go!” as she jumped from the platform, but tragedy struck on her second climb. Her son, Nikita, 23, was present at the scene.

A spokesperson from 23block, the company that operates the rope jumping facility, said: “In tragic circumstances, experienced jumper and mother-of-two Liza has passed away. Elizaveta Gushchina, along with her son Nikita, was a member of our sports team. Now the whole team is mourning her loss, this is a very big tragedy for us.”
The Russian state prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the incident. A spokesperson stated: “They will ascertain whether the organisers of the attraction complied with the law when providing services.”

Publicity material for the facility described it as being “for people who cannot imagine their life without adrenaline, rope jumping, flights, active recreation, freefall,” adding, “They want to share these emotions with you.”
Gushchina’s death follows a series of extreme sports fatalities, including that of 19-year-old parasailing influencer Tijana Radonjic in Montenegro, who fell 150ft into the ocean in June after unfastening her harness during a panic attack…..CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
