A tipper truck carrying sand apparently lost control and collided with the crowded market at around noon on Saturday. The driver lost control of the truck after the front tyre burst while it was reportedly travelling at a fast pace. This caused the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into the packed market area, damaging booths and crushing people. Many people were killed instantaneously by the impact of the collision, while others suffered severe injuries. The market rapidly descended into chaos as a number of people fled for their lives and attempted to help the injured.

Unfortunately, a vehicle carrying shaft sand lost control and collided with the packed Mile 6 Market in Jalingo, killing Cynthia Jonathan, a graduate of Taraba State University. Shortly after the event, security personnel and emergency responders arrived on the scene, conducted rescue operations, and took the injured individuals to local hospitals for medical attention. Additionally, the deceased’s bodies were located and brought to the mortuary.
