Taking to his X page (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Davido wrote:
“Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND !!”
Ifeanyi, who Davido had with his now-wife Chioma Rowland, died on October 31, 2022, after drowning in a swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island residence in Lagos, just days after his third birthday on October 20.
Following the incident, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be drowning. Eight domestic staff were initially questioned, with six released and two detained for further investigation.
Davido, who had taken a break from social media after the tragedy, returned months later and released his fourth studio album Timeless in 2023.
In an interview, he explained that he intentionally did not include a tribute to Ifeanyi on the album because he wanted to keep the project full of positive energy.
In October 2023, the singer marked the one-year anniversary of Ifeanyi’s death with a dove emoji post on X.
