Roslyn reenacted the terrible vehicle accident that killed her mentor and two other passengers, leaving her and her younger brother as the only survivors, in an emotional conversation with presenter Lucky Udu.
“It went by so quickly,” Roslyn remembered. Another car lost control and collided with us as we were on our way to a business trip. I was seated in front. I was unaware that everything had gone blank. The incident claimed the life of her mentor, who was also the driver. What most surprised Roslyn was a vision she claimed to have had while in the hospital. I just happened to run across my mentor. “Until we meet on the other side of life,” he told me, before vanishing. He had four children, so I pleaded with God to take me instead. However, a voice informed me that he had finished his earthly mission.
It was a horrific crash. After weeks of excruciating recuperation, Roslyn and her brother both survived, despite Roslyn suffering a leg fracture and her brother losing a toe. My entire existence fell apart after that accident. I thought the wisest course of action was to give up. However, while I was in the hospital, I vowed to God that I would lead a meaningful life if I lived,” she added. Roslyn maintains that her motivation is fuelled by her mentor’s legacy. He helped those around him and led a holy life. He was mourned by the entire community. I now interpret my survival as an invitation to carry on with that service-oriented mindset. Roslyn’s message is undeniable: “We don’t have the luxury of time,” as she rebuilds her life via faith, career, and philanthropy after a near-fatal crash.
