Senator Ekwunife, the APC candidate for deputy governor, accused Mrs Soludo of having close relationships with former governor Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju, which sparked the argument. Mrs. Soludo vehemently denied the charge, calling it slanderous, and denounced Ekwunife for involving her kids in political disputes. She threatened to take legal action in her press release unless the remarks were taken down and a formal apology was given within three days. But she suggested that the best remedy would be a spiritual oath. She challenged Senator Ekwunife to swear an oath of chastity and fidelity in front of the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Bible in any church, pointing out that she had openly professed her Catholic religion.

Mrs. Soludo declared that she and her kids were prepared to attest that, in her 55 years of existence, she had only known her husband, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, and that she had been faithful. She went one step further in her challenge by promising to pay for Senator Ekwunife’s journey to London so that she may undergo DNA testing at three prestigious medical facilities. In the event that the results refuted her defence, she promised Ekwunife both cash compensation and public recognition.
