Gunmen suspected to be Agatu militia have killed a community leader during an early morning attack on Ajokpachi Odo village in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a post shared on X on Sunday.
Makama said about 60 armed men stormed the village around 6 a.m. on Friday, shooting into the air.
During the raid, the attackers reportedly accused the community of helping Fulani herders carry out assaults along the Kogi–Benue border.
The community leader, 65-year-old Nuhu Aduga Echoda, was shot and killed.
Frightened residents fled into nearby bushes to escape the gunfire.
Security operatives later arrived at the scene to assess the situation and document the attack.
“The family of the deceased declined a post-mortem examination, choosing immediate burial in line with local customs,” Makama wrote.
