2027: El-Rufai needs help – Onanuga

Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s spokesperson, has said former Governor of Kaduna Nasir El-Rufai needs help over unfounded claims and speculations about the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Onanuga disclosed this in a statement through his official X account Sunday.

This comes as El-Rufai, on receiving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in a solidarity visit, warned Nigerians that Tinubu must be removed in the 2027 election, or else he would be ‘president for life’.

However, Onanuga said El-Rufai’s recent claims show he has recognised the futility of attempts to prevent President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

He described the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress, with El-Rufai as a member, as a mission doomed to fail.

According to him, massive support from the North during President Tinubu’s last visit to Kaduna points to the fact that the plot to unseat him is unsustainable.

Onanuga said that the governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani, may wish to offer El-Rufai his professional counsel to steer him away from political fabrications against President Tinubu.

“Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai appears to need some help, especially given his recent unfounded claims and speculations about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“It is increasingly evident that El-Rufai has recognised the futility of attempts by his associates in his new party to prevent President Tinubu’s likely re-election in 2027. This plot is proving to be unattainable, a mission doomed to fail.

“Governor Uba Sani may wish to reach out to his predecessor, as El-Rufai could benefit from some professional counseling to steer him away from his recent hallucinations and political fabrications on Tinubu and 2027”, he wrote on X.
