The Benue State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill seeking the establishment of public complaints and anti corruption commission in Benue State .
The bill was passed into law during plenary of the house on Monday, after scaling a third reading on the floor during a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Emberger Alfred.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Zape Upaa, the passage of the bill follows a recent public hearing convened by the house at the assembly complex which brought together critical stakeholders and sector players to provide insight and feedback on the proposed agency.
He said with the passage, the law will not only regulate the private and public lives but also place Benue State on the global map as one of the States that has taken a bold step in the war against corruption.
Upaa said the Speaker, Alfred appreciated members for their robust contributions on the bill and emphasized that the APC-led administration of Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia is determined to fight corruption head-on.
He noted that when the bill is signed into law it will strengthen accountability, promote justice and restore public confidence in governance.
