The Presidency has opened up on President Bola Tinubu’s encounter with a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Sule Lamido in Kaduna State.
It said Tinubu’s encounter with Lamido showed that he’s a president for all Nigerians.
Tinubu met with Lamido during the wedding fatiha of Nasirudeen, son of former Zamfara State governor and Senator, Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar at the historic Sultan Bello Mosque, Unguwar Sarki area of Kaduna State on Friday.
However, Tinubu’s Special Adviser Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, said the president welcomed Lamido with opened arms during the wedding.
Dare said Tinubu showed that politics can be practiced without bitterness.
A lengthy statement he issued reads partly: “President Tinubu did not recoil, nor offer a cold shoulder. Instead, he welcomed him with an expansive smile and hearty laughter. Their exchange was brief, warm, and telling. For many inside that mosque, it was a masterclass in citizen diplomacy, showing that politics can be practiced without bitterness.
“The President’s gesture of camaraderie sent a powerful signal.
“The effect was immediate. Tinubu is President for all Nigerians, not just for his supporters.”
