Properties worth millions of naira destroyed as fire ravages building in Ibadan

Properties worth millions of naira and household items have been destroyed as a result of fire that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occured in the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident occured at at No 17 Ifesowapo Maternity, Zone 2, Ajoda, in the Egbeda area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Our correspondent learnt that the fire started around 12:00 am and affected parts of the building.

No life was lost in the incident.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.

He said that the fire was as a result of electrical surge.

The statement said, “The distressed call was received at exactly 00:42hrs on Wednesday 24th September, 2025. Immediately the address was received, Firemen led by ACFS Adisa Wasiu promptly mobilized and deployed to the scene of incident.

“On getting there, it was a private residential building of four bedrooms flat and adjoining two bathrooms flat engulfed by fire. Our officers swiftly swung into action, and the was restricted the from spreading to nearby buildings and properties.

“No casualty was recorded and properties worth millions of naira was loss. The fire incident was as a result of electricity surge ignited from plugged electrical gadget unattended to.”
