Alhaji Emilola Gazal, former Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, was attacked in the early hours of Thursday when armed men invaded his home and made away with cash, valuables, and his vehicle.
Gazal, who also publishes The Roots Magazine, said the attackers broke into his residence in the Ijebu-Ode GRA around 2 a.m.
He explained that they forced him to empty his bank accounts through mobile transfers, leaving only ₦5,000, before seizing his wife’s jewellery and driving off in his ash-coloured car.
The politician disclosed that he planned to report the incident to police formations in Igbeba and Obalende.
The robbery adds to a rising wave of violent crimes in Ogun State, particularly in the Ijebu axis. In recent months, police and Amotekun operatives have clashed with criminal groups in several parts of the state.
In September, police arrested a suspect accused of stealing goods worth ₦1.5 million during a burglary in Ayetoro, while earlier in the year, a robbery suspect was killed in a shootout along the Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway.
